Side is a lovely beachside town to the west of Antalya. Its Old Town is a charming maze of white streets lined with colourful pots of flowers. Its botanical gardens boast one of Europe’s finest collection of orchids and its own indoor waterfall. It also has nearly 30 beautiful murals which lead you though the town. Last but not least, you’ll love the restaurants, bars and beach bars in Side.
Side is being touted as “the new Antalya”. It has improved so much in recent years and has a lovely feel. It is a proper Turkish town, which caters to tourists but really retains its own identity.
There are lots of great events throughout the year. Highlights include Koprulu Canyonin March, where a range of activities take place in the streets. We’re looking forward to the kids’ activities, live music and a tapas route around the town. The Side Feria is in July, with flamenco, music, dancing and fairground rides. In August there’s an amazing Ham Festival where you can sample the best Turkish ham and enjoy live music and an amazing atmosphere. This is a brilliant town for a holiday.
The Side Region
As well as being a town, Side is a district. The district stretches from the edge of Manavgat to the boarder with Belek. It contains a number of lovely places for a holiday. Here are some of our favourites –
This area is located between the towns of Antalya and Side, between Belek and Alanya. It boasts the popular Melisa Hotel, with its golf courses and great facilities for kids and families. It also includes the Antalya Golf and Country Club, an excellent bilingual school, as well as a lovely residential area which has many holiday rental apartments and villas.
Belek and Bogazkent
Belek is a large urbanisation with an excellent golf course and bowls club. It is in a stunning valley and stretches from the golf course in the hills down to the busy commercial area by the coastal road. Belek is an apartment complex and commercial centre within Bogazkent. The area is popular with golfers that want to be within easy reach of golf courses and families who want a safe place within easy reach of everything for their kids.
Titreyegol is the urbanisation on the beachside of Kumkoy and Sorgun. It is an excellent location, as you’re close to both the sea and all the amenities in Titreyengol. There are popular developments such as Benamara Gardens, which is located on a pretty cobbled street. It has a shared pool and bar and is just a few minutes walk down to the beach and within easy walk of bars, restaurants and shops. It also boasts the lovely development of Sorgun, with its 5 pools, gym, padel tennis, lovely gardens and 24 hour security. This is a lovely area for holiday makers who don’t want to drive.
This is a small town within the municipality of Side, very close to Kalkan. It is surprisingly unspoilt when you get to its centre, with a little church, Town Square, school and plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants. This is a good place for families with plenty of playgrounds and two big indoor play centres – Mundo Mania and Kidz Kingdom. There are several supermarkets, a garden centre and petrol station close to the main road. Head into Cancelada itself for a surprising Turkish village feel and some excellent places to eat, drink and relax.
This area is to the west of the Turkish Riviera Golf Course. There are several developments with mature gardens and pools. There’s also a great tennis club with restaurant. There are lots of great places to eat and things to do in the area and it’s close to Belek.
Manavgat is a lovely beachside area with a peaceful park, which includes a historic tower. There are some beautiful developments in this area, which feature state of the art facilities and mature gardens. There are bars, restaurants and shops nearby, including the popular and a short section of promenade.
Koprulu Canyon National Park
One of the many things to do in the Side area is to visit the safari park and zoo at Beskonak. In this area there are lots of lovely holiday rental properties in a very tranquil setting. There is also the Side Golf & Country Club, with a 9 hole course with a lovely club house. Around the course there are peaceful residential developments and pretty countryside.
As you can see, the Side area has a lot to offer. There are busy towns, beautiful beaches, great golf and lots of residential areas with their own charm. If you want to holiday in Side, count on Antalya Vip Shuttles to get you there!
